Vera Wang Princess Perfume Should Be Pea, Not Heart-Shaped

There are generally two common opinions about Vera Wang Princess: it’s a “Barbie perfume” and it’s very intense. I have to disagree with both I’m afraid.

Regarding the intensity, I had to return to the perfume shop because, in spite of three sprays from a very close distance, I couldn’t feel a thing on the paper strip: 15 minutes felt like 15 hours. With four sprays it got better, but I’m still having a hard time:  it just won’t come out of its shell.

And about the notes: after a quite alcoholic beginning, the first minutes are indeed very interesting. Although you already know it’s going to be a sweet-floral fragrance (the notes are already there), Princess Vera Wang perfume shows a fresh side, which – and this the interesting part -  I felt in the nose, rather than as an actual note.

I explain this with the fact that in the opening there is – officially – a lot of fresh stuff, like water lily, apple and mandarin. The intensity however is too low, and these notes are completely hidden by the more intense sweet florals, but the freshness is still there (maybe I’ll apply 15 sprays next time). So, the smell is covered, but not the freshness. This is probably fanta-perfumery (but hey, they still can’t agree on how smell works, so…), but a very cool explanation nonetheless.

After this interesting beginning, Vera Wang princess fragrance fulfils its destiny and settles down to become what it was meant to be: a floral fragrance, accompanied by sweet notes of chocolate and vanilla. Nothing overwhelming however, the mix is still quite discreet.

Two perfumers are responsible for this: Ilias Ermenidis (Gucci by Gucci, L`eau Cheap and Chic by Moschino, Rock`n Dreams by Valentino) and Harry Fremont (CK One by CK, Cosmic Radiance by Britney Spears, Juicy Couture, Miracle by Lancome, Romance by Ralph Lauren)

Although Vera Wang Princess fragrance feels quite young, from what I felt, calling this a “Barbie perfume” would be a tad unfair (the winner so far would be Jeenifer Lopez JLO IMO). The worst you can say about it is that it’s just another sweet-floral fragrance. It’s probably not so good as Flowerbomb, but for half the price, it’s more worth it, and sexier.
