Happy perfume for women by Clinique

Happy perfume is a typical example of fragrance whose name is more famous than who made it. I don’t think the people at Clinique mind though, as long as Happy perfume remains one of the their most famous perfumes so far.
The name “Happy” is not just a nice name, but expresses the purpose with which it was designed: to make a perfume able to lift the spirit without being too intense or formal.
Officially the notes are grapefruit, flowers of boysenberry tree (a hybrid mix of different berries), and a type of Madagascar jasmine.

Happy Perfume

Happy perfume’s opening notes are a mix of red oranges and watery notes, plus a floral note that becomes the signature of this perfume. The middle notes bring a note of wood with little hints of aromatic green notes and seeds. There is also a sweet note, which I don’t know if it’s honey or vanilla. I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, because I never have problems in telling one from the other, but people at Clinique have made a good job in making this sweet note tricky.

One thing that always surprises me of Happy perfume is that, as hours pass, the main floral notes separate, and it’s clear that so far it was a mix of more floral notes perceived as a whole. The heart notes keep the same aroma of the beginning but with small variations, as if some floral had become weaker than others. At a later stage, the floral is sweeter, probably because of a touch of musk.

As I said before, this is a happy and life affirming fragrance, fresh and spirit lifting, that suits a similar character. The different floral notes are so well combined together that they smell like one single, unique unknown flower. In spite of the occasional bitter note, it can be worn any time of the year, any day.

There is also a Happy perfume for men, whose opening notes are loaded with citrus like orange, lemon and mandarin. The middle notes complete the starting notes adding a layer of green. Within two hours the opening and the heart notes disappear and what is left is the base, composed of dry woods like cedar, Guaiac wood and musk.

As far as Happy perfume for men is concerned, it doesn’t last for very long, like all perfumes full of floral and citrus notes That’s the price for having a very refreshing perfume. Not cheap enough to be a sport perfume, not lasting enough to be a classic, it’s more suitable for a daily summer use, as the wood notes are very light.
