Three noses behind this CK Euphoria (launched in 2005): Dominique Ropion (Acqua di Gioia and Armani Code by Giorgio Armani), Carlos Benaim (Polo Ralph Lauren, Flowerbomb, Eternity for men) and Loc Dong (CKIN2U and Acqua di Gioia).
The initial freshness offers weird citrus notes, like pomegranate and persimmon, but has a short existence, and it won’t take much to lotus and orchid to become warm and sweet.
However, there is a difference with the usual floral + sugar formula: a creaminess that gives Euphoria CK a good degree of complexity, which in perfumes, unlike in people, almost always means interesting and worth coming back for another smell.
The result is a fragrance that strikes the perfect balance between clean and sexy (in my mind they tend to be opposites), but also between floral, sweet and warm (woodsy?) notes.
If that phase lasted forever, you could spray some on a blotter and spend some fun time, trying to figure out all the different facets. But, alas, as the song goes, all that shimmers in this world is sure to fade, and after two-three hours of this, there is a change.
Euphoria Calvin Klein women at this point loses the creamy note and becomes what it avoided to be so far: a sweet-floral fragrance like others out there.
But the drama is not over yet. Just when I was about to half-dismiss it with a reproachful “you’re all the same,” a metallic note came out, making all interesting again. It’s the footprint of violet (as I read in a review), but it’s all very brief, so don’t come complain if you don’t feel it on your skin.
In the rest of its evolution, it will have mix praline notes with violet, but again there is a certain complexity, which will last until the very end, when it finally surrenders and mixes the florals with musk in a been-there-smelt-that kind of way.
But don’t’ take this as a bad review, quite the opposite: try it, buy it and use this Euphoria fragrance everywhere, at and after work, when you’re alone or with other people, on a date or with friends, when you’re dressed to kill, or you couldn’t care less… there is not one single occasion when this won’t be suitable.
You will smell different, but in a subtle way, and with a bit of luck your skin will let even more complexity come out.
Although she can easily hide in the herd, Euphoria is an interesting girl with attitude, which is only waiting to be spotted by the right nose. If you know someone who likes Flowerbomb or (God forbid) 212 Sexy, this one could be a good present, a way to raise the bar a little.
